Santouka Hokkaido Ramen, Tokyo Street, Pavilion

The week before - I went to check out Tokyo Street at Pavilion for something to eat.

...and then we ended up at Santouka Hokkaido Ramen. It looked like quite a cosy place, but truth is... I think that was the only place that was rather empty at 6ish pm. =)

A great display of the noodles/ramen that you could order.

There was still a little wait for our table, and we got the table in like 10 mins. Not too bad lor.

This is the plain shoyu ramen. =) Very good stuffs!!!

This one is the 'salt' ramen - with char siew!!! =) My FAVOURITE!!!!

Okay, I know this post is rather short, but nevermind lah ok - just go and check out the ramen... it is super awesomeeeee!!!

Words

Do you remember vocabulary books? These were slim exercise books given out at school in which we would write new words. I only recall them for a brief period of time; perhaps they were superseded by changes in curriculum and chaotic lessons. But I rather liked them, so I have decided to resurrect the idea.

Every time I discover a new word it gets recorded in my notebook. I have a guess what I think the words means and then look it up later when I get a chance. Here are a selection for your amusement!

Word: Lexical

I think: Correct terminology
Actual meaning: A dictionary term or definition
How close was I? Not bad

Word: Inchoate
I think: Incoherent
Actual meaning: Just begun, not fully formed, rudimentary
How close was I? Not even vaguely! Although I can see my thought pattern – same word family, right? (Wrong!)

Word: Coterie

I think: Group
Actual meaning: Small group with shared interests, exclusive to others
How close was I? Spot on

Word: Amanuensis
I think: Some sort of teacher
Actual meaning: Performing a function by hand, i.e. writing down the words of another. In Latin a  manual labourer / secretary
How close was I? Way out

Word: Simony
I think: Traitor or treachery
Actual meaning: Paying for a position within church, trafficking for money within spiritual things
How close was I? Close but no biscuit

I love discovering new words and am always rather thrilled when I am reading and a word leaps out that I've never seen before. I like reading around it, trying to guess, seeing if there are any clues. Sometimes these guesses can put an interesting slant on sentences, one the author had not foreseen. Hence the notebook!

Pasar Ramadhan, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, KL

Okay I know that this post is quite outdated now that the fasting month is over. Anyways, before I continue further, I would like to wish all my Muslim friends a Selamat Hari Raya - in case you didnt receive my wishes.

Just two weeks ago, I went to the Pasar Ramadhan at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail - the ramadhan pasar used to be much larger and extended - but this year's was somehow rather small. =(

I would not miss out on the Pasar Ramadhan specials such as the lemangs, the murtabaks, and probably a lot of other good stuffs - including the ayam perciks!!! *yummmmyyyzzzz*

Resep Herbal Jambu Monyet (Anacardium occidentale)

Jambu monyet atau jambu mede (Anacardium occidentale) merupakan salah satu tanaman obat. Jambu monyet antara lain mengandung senyawa kimia seperti tanim, anacardic acid dan cardol, yang bermanfaat sebagai antibakteri dan antiseptik. Resep herbal tanaman jambu monyet ini dapat digunakan antara lain untuk mengobati:

Diabetes mellitus 
Bahan: 2 potong kulit batang jambu monyet dan adas pulawaras secukupnya. 
Cara Membuat: Kedua bahan tersebut direbus bersama dengan 2 liter air sampai mendidih, kemudian disaring untuk diambil airnya.              
Cara menggunakan: diminum 2 kali sehari, pagi dan sore. 

Disentri
Bahan: 1 genggam daun jambu monyet dan 1 potong kulit batang jambu monyet. 
Cara Membuat: Kedua bahan tersebut direbus bersama dengan 1 1/2 liter air sampai mendidih, kemudian disaring untuk diambil airnya.      
Cara menggunakan: diminum 2 kali sehari, pagi dan sore. 

Radang mulut 
Bahan: 1 genggam daun jambu monyet dan 1 potong kulit batang jambu monyet. 
Cara Membuat: Kedua bahan tersebut direbus bersama dengan 1 liter air sampai mendidih, kemudian disaring untuk diambil airnya.              
Cara menggunakan: diminum 2 kali sehari, pagi dan sore.
