Strong earthquake hits Indonesia's Sumatra!

An earthquake rocked Indonesia's Sumatra island early Tuesday, killing at least one person, officials said.

The quake struck at 12:55 a.m. with the epicenter 59 kilometers (37 miles) northeast of Singkilbaru district in Aceh province, according to the Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency. The agency said the quake measured at magnitude-6.7 on the Richter scale. A boy was killed when he was hit by falling debris, while several houses and other buildings were damaged as a result of the quake, Maura Sakti, mayor of the town of Subulussalam in Aceh, told local television.

The quake did not trigger a tsunami, and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said it was centered too far inland to have done so.
